The groups third Family Fun Day was held in the Ffrith Community Park on Saturday 17th of August 2024 and it was another great success attracting upwards of 1,500 people. Attendees were mainly from the local community together with visitors from the surrounding area.
Our team of volunteers have been delighted with the volume of positive feedback from attendees, both on the day and since the event. It was rewarding to see so many people of all ages thoroughly enjoying the day.
The voluntary groups who took part in the day helped us to provide a wide variety of fun activities including the Dog Show, Birds of Prey, tombola, face painting and children’s games.

Entertainment was varied and very popular. The Knights of Snowdon played traditional pipe band music, whilst the Goodnight Sweethearts duo delighted us with nostalgic songs. Gary Sausage kept children enthused by his magic and balloon making expertise. The Creepy Crawlies exhibit was very popular again, with constant long queues to meet the creatures on show. It was also good to see the participation of volunteers from the Festival Church who offered games and refreshments for all the family. They certainly brought a lot of energy and laughter to our event.
We are grateful for the support of Denbighshire Leisure Ltd and the Ffrith Bowls Club. Access to the Bowls Club facilities was a benefit to those attending and resulted in significant business for the Café and Restaurant. Support in setting up the PA system and helping with the general groundwork maintenance before the event was much appreciated.

We also had the honour of welcoming local dignitaries. Our Prestatyn Town Crier. Sandra Wynne certainly made a positive impact by her announcements throughout the event. It was a pleasure to see the Cllr Adrian West, Mayor of Prestatyn & Meliden and his consort who thoroughly enjoyed their day in the park. In addition, our new MP, Becky Gittins attended so was able to see first-hand how a group of volunteers can add value to the local community.
The main costs associated with the event included the hire of Creepy Crawly Show, plus payment for musical entertainment, St John Ambulance First Aiders, graphic design/printing of promotional flyers, banners, transport costs, etc.
We appreciate the grants received from Prestatyn Town Council and the Wales Church Act, which gave us the ability to organise such a fantastic day.
The cost of holding the event achieved within budget. In addition, monies raised on the day via the raffle and children’s games were a valuable contribution towards the operating costs of the Friends of the Ffrith annual insurance, website and on-going maintenance costs.
